And They Walked Away

It’s no secret that Subaru focuses heavily on safety. One of the more compelling stories Subaru shared is from Janet, whose 2012 Subaru Legacy saved her life. She recounted her experience of being hit by a red light-running driver. The collision totaled her beloved Legacy, but she left the ER a few hours later without a single broken bone. Her well-loved Subaru had 115,000 miles when it gave its life to save hers, and she said she “cannot wait to pick out my next one!”

“We fought a semi and won,” tells the story of Brittney, whose 2017 Subaru Outback helped her stop before colliding with a stopped vehicle on a snowy interstate. Despite avoiding that collision, the Outback was rear-ended by a skidding semi-truck, which pushed her Subaru into a Ford Focus in front of her. The Ford was totaled, but the Outback only had minor damage and was able to drive onto the flatbed tow truck. Both Brittney and her husband walked away from the crash with minor injuries, and she said they both now drive Subarus.

Christina told the story of her “worst day,” during which she had a nasty-looking accident that left her Subaru totaled, but all passengers injury-free. Her account was short, but the image of her car gives all the detail we need.

Shayna shared that she “lived to tell the tale.” Her 2015 Subaru Crosstrek SV saved her life after a late-night work shift. She was involved in a head-on collision at 45 mph, and though the other driver fled the scene, Shayna left the hospital with nothing more than a few bruises from her seatbelt. Just a few months later, she was back at her local Subaru dealer to buy a 2021 Crosstrek, which will keep her and her dogs safe on their next adventure.

Kelly’s story involved a rollover crash in her 2022 Crosstrek. She said the vehicle rolled once before hitting a utility pole, but she was able to crawl out of the car completely uninjured. She credited the vehicle for saving her life and said that she went right out to buy a new Crosstrek after the crash.
