One Year With a 2025 Subaru Forester Sport

The first year of ownership is seen as the most critical time to check your satisfaction with your vehicle. This goes beyond simple maintenance wear and tear. It is a measurement of whether you are as happy with your vehicle after 12 months as you were when you first took delivery of it. Recently, MotorTrend received a 2025 Subaru Forester Sport for a long-term review. They have been spending a year taking care of it and putting it through its paces.

The 2025 Forester Sport arrived well-equipped. The bronze finished 19-inch alloy wheels set off a cool and distinct look that stands out in a crowd. This adds to the bronze trim found throughout the exterior. Inside, you sit in SofTex upholstery with bronze accents throughout the cabin. Plus, you get an 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless smartphone compatibility.

A 180-horsepower 2.5-liter BOXER engine powers MotorTrend’s long-term 2025 Forester Sport. This power runs through a Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission to its Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Add the dual-mode X-MODE with Hill Descent Control, and you have improved traction management. You can also fine-tune your performance with the SI-DRIVE engine management system.

The 2025 Forester is known to be one of the safest vehicles in its class, thanks to its award-winning EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. In the 2025 Forester Sport, you get the added benefit of Blind-Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Over the course of a year, MotorTrend observed that the 2025 Forester Sport is a versatile vehicle. It capably carried an 11-year-old border collie mutt and its brother in the rear cargo hold. It has also served as a camera car for running footage and stills of other test vehicles. It even earned a Subaru Badge of Ownership

However, there is a twist to this year-long experience with the 2025 Forester Sport. At the 10,000-mile mark, MotorTrend also received a 2025 Forester Touring Hybrid for a week. The Hybrid adds an electric motor to its 2.5-liter BOXER engine – rated at a combined 194 horsepower. This is also fed by a battery pack that regains energy through regenerative braking. This driveline is also available in the Sport trim level.

The comparisons by MotorTrend between the two 2025 Foresters affirm what Subaru offers with their award-winning and safest SUV, and they are both winners for their owners.
