2026 Subaru Outback Named One of the Ten Best Interiors On The Market

While most automotive publications annually select a vehicle or group of vehicles that impress them most, WardsAuto goes a step further, naming the best interiors available in the automotive market – an important area to evaluate, given how much time we spend in our cars or behind the wheel. Twin Falls Subaru has good news: WardsAuto’s editors named the redesigned 2026 Outback Touring and Touring XT to the 2026 Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX list, praising the Outback for its fresh interior design, improved infotainment system, and advanced driver-assist features. 

The award followed WardsAuto’s assessment of 28 models that were either entirely new, redesigned, or significantly refreshed, across various metrics such as aesthetics, design harmony, comfort, connectivity and infotainment, displays, advanced safety features, and overall value. 

“The Outback Touring has the most luxurious Subaru interior I’ve ever seen. The rich brown and black surfaces are beautifully textured and give a premium look. There are also high-end features such as seats that are ventilated as well as heated,” WardsAuto Judge Drew Winter said. 

For 2026, the Outback dash presents a calmer, cleaner design featuring a 12.1-inch center touchscreen with a landscape layout, in contrast to most current Subaru designs, along with a 12.1-inch driver’s information display.  The touchscreen is backed by a new operating system that is significantly faster than before. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard features, enabling users to switch between full-screen and embedded views. In addition to cloud-based voice recognition, the new touchscreen features a hybrid navigation system that combines cloud and onboard data to efficiently download maps for upcoming trips. 

Additional features included in the Outback Touring model include Java Brown or Slate Black Nappa leather-trimmed perforated interior upholstery with contrasting brown or black stitching. The driver’s seat offers 12-way adjustment, while front seats are heated and ventilated, and the outboard 2nd-row seats are also heated.  

There was a time when interiors were considered a weakness for Subaru models, but those days are long gone. The Outback is leading the way with exciting, upscale, and up-to-date interior designs that will likely influence future Subaru models.
