​​Subaru Adds the Hybrid Driveline to the 2027 Forester Wilderness​ 

The popularity if the Wilderness lineup has given new meaning to seeking adventure. Taking the high road into the great outdoors in an Outback, Forester, or Crosstrek created a more adventurous trim level that enabled these three Subaru models to go further. In fact, they’ve become one of Southern Idaho’s favorite adventure vehicles.   

For 2027, there will be a new member of the Wilderness lineup. One that may look familiar, but it has something underneath its body that delivers more performance and better fuel economy.  

Coming later this year, the 2027 Subaru Forester Wilderness Hybrid will arrive as the first electrified version of our adventure-ready lineup of SUVs and crossovers,  

It will look almost exactly like the non-hybrid Forester Wilderness. You still get the exclusive rugged grille design, anodized copper trim inside and out, and added cladding for protection, raised ladder-type roof rails with an 800-pound capacity, and a ground clearance of 9.3 inches.  

The big difference is underneath the hood. The 2.5-liter BOXER engine is coupled to an electric motor set fed by a high-capacity lithium-ion battery. The result is more power from the driveline with 194 total system horsepower – up from 180 horsepower on the Forester Wilderness. The driveline still includes the Symmetrical all-wheel drive and dual-mode X-MODE traction management system. The latter features settings for Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud.  

It also shares the upgraded off-road suspension with the non-hybrid Forester Wilderness. Mounted on 17-inch matte black alloy wheels, all-terrain tires keep the hybrid Forester Wilderness on the surface – no matter which surface it drives on.  

New to the 2027 Forester Wilderness is a 12.3-inch full digital gauge cluster. This includes integration with navigation and Apple Maps. The 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen remains a hub for all functionality and connectivity. You still get comfortable gray textured StarTex seating for up to five, along with up to 69 cubic feet of cargo space. The interior space has not changed from the non-hybrid model, even with battery placement underneath the cabin.  

Standard on all Forester Hybrid models is the EyeSight Driver Assist Technologies, integrating various features to work together to keep you safe from harm. These features include Automatic Emergency Steering, Emergency Lane Keep Assist, Blind-Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Emergency Stop Assist, and more. 

The new 2027 Forester Wilderness Hybrid is set to arrive this fall.
