The response to the arrival of the 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid was tremendous. The automotive media has praised it for boosting our popular compact SUV’s performance while improving fuel economy. Customers responded by choosing the Hybrid overall.

The 2025 Forester Hybrid has become so popular that Subaru’s assembly facility in Lafayette, Indiana, has added the 2026 model year to its production run to meet our demand for this more efficient version of our SUV. In fact, this becomes the first Hybrid to be built at our Indiana plant.

Last year, Subaru began production of the Forester in Indiana with the gas model. With the addition of the Hybrid driveline, almost every one of our popular SUVs sold in this country is assembled here. That was a feat that took years to accomplish.

Subaru’s Indiana facility currently assembles every Ascent sold in the USA, as well as select Crosstrek models. Since 1989, this assembly plant has produced over six million Subaru vehicles. It currently has a workforce of 6,500.

In 2025, the Forester sold very well in the U.S.A. Adding the Hybrid driveline has been a huge plus for a growing lineup that offers 10 overall trim levels – four of which are Hybrid models. They include the Premium Hybrid, Sport Hybrid, Limited Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid.

These four Hybrid models are powered by a combination of a 2.5-liter BOXER engine and an electric motor. Together, they put down 194 horsepower with more than ample torque for when you need it. Every Hybrid is equipped with the Symmetrical all-wheel drive system along with X-MODE for improved traction management year-round.

Safety has been the cornerstone of every Forester sold in the U.S.A. In fact, it has earned the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety – it’s tenth such award in its history. Part of achieving high crash-test scores is the standard integration of the latest generation of Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. This suite of advanced driver assistance features includes Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Steering Responsive Headlights, and High Beam Assist.

While safety and traction are important to 2026 Forester Hybrid customers, you want a vehicle that will take you everywhere in comfort. With seating for up to five, passengers enjoy exceptional headroom for the journey ahead. Plus, your pets will feel comfortable in the rear with a well-shaped cargo hold for them to roam – or to fit a larger pet carrier.
