Subaru Brings Home Four IIHS Top Safety Pick Awards

Twin Falls Subaru is proud to inform you that three of its 2024 models have been awarded TOP SAFETY PICKS by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). One model achieved the TOP SAFETY PICK + designation, the highest IIHS rating.
2024 TOP SAFETY PICK Winners
- Impreza (TSP for 17 consecutive years)
- Outback (TSP for 16 consecutive years)
- Solterra (TSP for 2 consecutive years)
2024 TOP SAFETY PICK + Winner
- Ascent (TSP for 7 consecutive years)

TOP SAFETY PICK Requirements were made more challenging for 2024, with higher thresholds for side impact protection, the moderate front overlap test, and pedestrian crash prevention systems.
“We followed the tougher requirements we introduced last year with another major update to the award criteria in 2024,” said IIHS President David Harkey. “This year’s winners are true standouts, offering the highest level of protection for both vehicle occupants and other vulnerable road users.”

Earning IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK awards is a common occurrence at Subaru. In the past eleven years, Subaru has received 71 TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards, more than any other brand. To qualify for the 2024 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, a vehicle must earn a “Good” rating in:
- Updated side impact
- Driver-side small overlap front
- Passenger-side small overlap front
- Original moderate overlap front

In addition, a vehicle must earn at least an “Acceptable” or higher rating in the newly revised moderate overlap front test, which considers the safety of rear-seat passengers for the first time. Standard headlights must be rated as “Good” or “Acceptable” as well. Front crash prevention systems, such as those found in the Subaru Eyesight driver assist system, must earn “Advanced” or “Superior” ratings in both the daytime and nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations.

“Subaru’s commitment to safety is renewed daily in the cars and SUVs we deliver to our customers,” said Jeff Walters, President and Chief Operating Officer, Subaru of America, Inc. “With tougher criteria again for 2024, we’re proud to be recognized by the IIHS this year with Top Safety Pick awards.
The IIHS safety ratings, which these models have excelled in, don’t even consider their standard Symmetrical AWD that optimizes traction in poor conditions. If you’re in the market for a new mid-size 2-row or 3-row SUV, compact hatch, or compact EV crossover, safety is a top priority. That’s why you should explore the safety winners at Twin Falls Subaru, where we have an extensive inventory of Outbacks, Ascents, and other Subaru models.
