The 2022 Subaru Outback impressed in this updated IIHS safety test

Subaru of America recently announced that the 2022 Subaru Outback received an impressive rating for the IIHS side-impact test. The Outback received a score of ‘good’, which is the highest possible rating. The Outback was the only vehicle to receive this mark out of the seven midsize cars that were tested. This recently updated side impact test is meant to simulate collisions that take place at intersections.

To receive a score of ‘good’, vehicles must hold their shape after the collision. Also, the crash test dummies in this vehicle must show no signs of severe injury or cranial impacts. The test was recently updated with increased speed and force. The barrier that collides with the vehicle went from weighing 3,300 pounds to 4,200 pounds. Also, the speed of the impact went up from 31 MPH to 37 MPH. Despite these daunting improvements to the test, the Outback still obtained this high mark.

Committed to Safety

Subaru’s commitment to safety has become a major part of the brand’s reputation. Thomas J. Doll, President and CEO of Subaru of America, stated “Our top priority with Outback, and all our models, is to provide customers with vehicles meeting the highest standards in safety.” This commitment is plainly evident as Subaru consistently manufactures some of the safest vehicles on the road.

The Subaru Outback will remain a 2022 TOP SAFETY PICK+. The plus gets added when models have headlights that receive grades of ‘good’ or ‘acceptable’. The 2022 Subaru Outback is the 63rd Subaru model since 2013 to claim this title. No other brand has accumulated this many of these titles since 2013.

The Outback comes loaded with top-of-the-line safety features. Not only is the Outback one of the safest cars on the road, but it is also incredibly comfortable to drive. The model comes equipped with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Active Torque Vectoring, Vehicle Dynamics Control, and X-MODE with Hill Descent Control.

There are many different options available for the Subaru Outback. No matter which style or time you prefer, you can rest assured knowing that you’re behind the wheel of one of the safest cars on the road. Twin Falls Subaru is happy to help you find the right one for you.
